Starting your keyword list is a step that will help you with both your SEO ranking and your Google Ads campaign results.
Start by writing down your main keywords that you must be seen for. These will be your top focus keywords.
Remember to keep your keywords (aka search queries) to 3 words or less.
Think like you are a new customer, how would they search for your business?
Keep your keywords simple.
Once you have written down all the keywords you can think of and what your customers would think of. You can move on to using some keyword tools to help expand your list.
First, you can start by using the Google Ads Keyword Planner. It is an excellent tool that can help find new keywords to target.
When using the Keyword Planner, it is quite simple to use. But the bonus is that Google provides an estimated cost per click and the competition level for that specific keyword. This allows you to know how much you should budget for your Google Ads campaign.
Start by selecting Discover New Keywords.
Then you can begin adding in a few of your top keywords. The location setting automatically is set to the United States.
If you enter your website URL, Google can use it to help you find more keywords based on your website content.
There are a few other tools I use to help discover more keywords for my clients.
Keyword Tool is a tool that can help you find great keywords for Google, YouTube, Bing, Amazon, eBay, Play Store, Instagram & Twitter.
I use this tool to help me fill in any gaps in keywords that I might have missed.
And then I like to use Google Market Trends to see what type of traffic trends I can learn about each keyword.
As a bonus, I want to share a Free Search Demographics Tool that can help identify your audience demographics based on the keyword search.
I find this tool to be an excellent way to learn more about who your customer avatar really is. With this information, you can customize your website, campaigns, ads & landing pages to speak directly to your ideal customer.
